Skull Appreciation Day Blog Hop!

Welcome scallywags! It’s hop day! Woo-Hoo!! If you are following the hop, you should have just visited Cyndi’s Blog (http://scrappychickcyndi.blogspot.com/) and have been seeing all the cool projects that everyone has been doing for Skull Appreciation Day! I am very excited to be not only participating in the hop, but I, along with Jorge (my bf and co-founder of Strange Skin) are sponsoring it too!! If you haven’t heard of us, our website is www.strangeskin.com!

We will be giving away two free digis to 3 fabulous crafters! How do you win these digis you ask? It’s simple! All you have to do is leave a comment here on my blog! That’s it! How easy was that?! The winners will be chosen at random and will be announced right back here on my blog! Make sure you check back to see if you have won! So two free Strange Skin digis of your choice for leaving one comment, what a great deal! hehehe

Alright, On to the Skull Appreciation Day business!! I decided that I wanted to do something totally different. I love working with all kinds of materials and for this project I chose to work with fabric, yarn, and thread! I also figured it would be great to drive myself completely crazy and make 3 projects instead of one, so here they are!!

First on the list is my 3D crocheted skull necklace! This tiny skull was made using crochet threads in cream, black, and red. I made the little skull first and I didn’t know what to do with him. After a while of wracking my brain I thought it would be a lot of fun to take this little guy and be able to wear him around! The red heart and black ring finish off the necklace and give it a little more pizzazz, don’t you think?! :0) I love throwing hearts and skulls together (who doesn’t?!) The whole necklace is hand made with thread and was a lot of fun to make! I’m thinking of selling them on my Etsy.com store, what do you guys think?

The second project I made was a crocheted oven mitt. I love to cook, and my kitchen could use a little more spooky flair, so that’s when I came up with the idea of making this! I crocheted it out of black yarn and made the skulls and hearts out of thread. It’s nice and soft, and I kind of want to just make another one and use them as giant mittens in the winter! hahaha

Last but not least, I made an apron to go with my faboo oven mitt. I used a sheer and white on white striped fabric to make it, added some satin bias tape and finished it off with another crocheted skull in the corner. Aprons are getting so popular lately that it seemed appropriate! I’m also thinking of selling a different version of this apron on my Etsy.com store. Again, your opinion is important to me, so let me know what’s on your mind!!

I love using skulls on pretty much anything, so I am so happy that I got to participate in this Hop! next on the list to visit is Prissy and her blog can be found here http://prissy-blingthis.blogspot.com/

I hope that you guys are all having fun with this hop! Don’t forget to leave a comment for a chance to win your choice of 2 Strange Skin digis! (Excluding the Zombie Attack!! collection) Check back often to see if you are a winner! Thank you for looking at my projects! Happy Hopping folks!

Here is the list of everyone’s blog that are participating in the hop:
